http://tinyurl.com/c4v6oj8

The Bielski brothers, Tuvia, Asael, and Zus formed a partisan group that operated in the Naliboki Forest, in Belarus, after the German invasion (WWII). The group, also known as the Kalinin Squad, saved 1200+ Jews. The film, "Defiance" (2008), starring Daniel Craig and Lev Schreiber, is based on events involving the Bielski partisans.
