“Only 15 prisoners were armed with axes during the uprising in the Lakva Ghetto… The signal for the uprising was the successful attack on one of the executioners. The SS shot & killed about 2,000 prisoners, but about 600 Jews managed to escape. Subsequently, 150 of them became guerillas….”
