1917 JEWS OF THE FIRST
MERCHANTS GUILD: ROSTOV-ON-DON
In his
book, “Jews from Rostov-On-Don: History. Facts. Biography”, Mr. M.A. Gontmakher
notes that the publication of the First Merchant guild list for 1917 was 41%
Jewish merchants. In addition to the merchants’ names, the list also includes
the names of spouses, children, and other family members, and their ages, as
well as many of the trade categories.
Below are
the surnames of the Jewish merchants of the First Merchants Guild. If you have
any interest in a specific name listed below, you can write to me, using the
comments section at the bottom of the posting. The numbers in parentheses
indicate the number of families with the identical name.
