Kharkiv Jewish Community Regarding Hostage-taking VSYUR Units in Valki, Kharkiv

following Jews were arrested as hostages on June 18 & 19:

watches & gold jewelry
Halperin-factory
owner, fruit waters
Rachlin—Halperin’s
partner
Warsaw—drugstore
owner
Glikin—tailor,
shot June 20
Katz---student
Brandes—woman
doctor
Ponizovski—
Oyberman—
Fiedler--
Rosenstock--
Orenstein—
The
last five individuals were not permanent residents of Valki. They worked in
gardens as part of a cooperative partnership with the Vegetarian Society of Kharkov.
The
individuals were arrested from the Jewish population to prevent the possibility
of execution of Russians by the Bolsheviks.
